This house dates from the American Civil War. It is in Selma, Alabama .There are quite a few of these Antebellum houses .They are renovated and used . Some people would do away with any trace of the past,but the folk in Selma realize that you have to know where you have come from and how far things have changed to appreciate what you have now.
The house is beautiful but slavery was not and still is not.
You have to know where you have come from to be thankful for what God has done in Christ for you on the cross. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.John 3v16
I remember asking one man in a previous parish what denomination he was .He looked at me and said "I'm a whosoever"
I looked at him and said I had not heard of that ,he pointed me to John 3v16. I then realized that I too was a "whosoever" and the last I heard they were still taking in members.
